Room data sheets are structured outline of the requirements that are applicable to specific types of rooms. They are usually developed during the briefing (or architectural programming in the US) phase of a design plan and help to clarify the client’s requirements for each type of space. They can be used to create specifications that assist contractors and design teams understand what is expected from each space and how they can ensure that any proposed solution is in line with the needs of the client.
Typically, room data sheets are designed by architects and members of the design team, such as engineers and interior designers. They are still a work-in-progress and can be a «living document» until the client has approved the final design of the architectural. The data in room sheets can be synced with the Revit model using a procedure known as backfilling. This method of verifying will ensure that the information in the room accurately reflects the specifications in the final model and also highlight any discrepancies between the two.
The Room Data Sheets component of BriefBuilder allows users to easily create rooms data sheets and use them to sync with the Revit model. It provides a set of standard templates and pre-programmed picklists for electrical, structural HVAC, plumbing and structural disciplines. It also allows for the inclusion of thumbnail size graphics and drawings for each discipline.
The component is simple to use and does not require special setup. It is able to load configurations previously saved, which cuts down on the time spent setting up. It also allows for features like size, browser organization and names to be defined for each view that is created.
